GIFS FOR INSTAGRAM BY JAPANESE ARTIST MASANAO HIRAYAMA


平山昌尚
Masanao Hirayama (*1976) is a Japanese artist based in Tokyo. His significantly reductive aesthetic isn’t just characteristic in his works, but also in his way of living. Carefully drawing the same image repeatedly, Masanao aims to get rid of all intentions connected to the ego, using art as a process of finally becoming unconscious. 
 
"I am so proud to already be launching a second creative dialogue on our webpage, this time with the Japanese artist Masanao Hirayama. 

Having been a huge fan of Japan for a long time, I became even more attached to the country after my daughter Sakura was conceived in Tokyo during the summer of 2019. She is named after the incredible cherry blossoming that takes place in Japan every spring, around the time of her birthday. 

When I came across Masanao’s work on Instagram, I instantly loved it. His clean, yet incredibly playful aesthetic is beautiful in all its childlikeness. My children are always my greatest source of inspiration, and they are always around when I am working in my studio, floating into my work. They really loved the idea of creating GIFs with Masanao’s drawing – especially Johann, who is a powerful second eye to everything I create.
 
Working with Masanao, we came up with 13 themes related to the world of Spustova. However, feel free to use the GIFs in your own way!

Dear Masanao,

Hope you are doing well:)

 

We launched the website last September and we are using your “Womb” icon in the About section.

I love it so so much! We also printed it on the water bottles and sent it out to our clients, collaborators and friends to celebrate the launch - it was a huge success and people even want to buy

the bottles, hehe.

 

Also we have a new button on our website called “Dialogue” where we would like to introduce different creative dialogues.

The first dialogue was a collaboration with a sound designer x video artist - we made 3 original meditation sounds, we are even on Spotify as an artist!
